REDUCING POLLUTION IN LEATHER, TEXTILE AND SYNTHETIC MATERIALS MANUFACTURE THROUGH MAXIMASING CHEMICAL UPTAKE

Tradition is a key element for the italian thanning production suxcess. In industrial districts, in fact, the leather processing process follows the artisan techniques handed down from generation to generation which over the years have been accompanied by innovations brought by technology and research.
To aim for the future today is needed to ensuring environmental sustainability in the production process, achievment that could be reached through the adoption of new technologies and new solutions at an organizational level.
The leather manufacturing process is potentially dangerous for the environment because of the use of different chemicals. The problem is even more delicate in the states where the rules governing the industry are not as stringent as in Europe.
Some examples of concrete actions taken to reduce the invironmental impactin leather manufactoring process are:

1. depilation without sulphide and tanning without metals;

2. retannage and automated dyeing without water consuption;

3. optimization of production and logistics systems for processing fresh hides;

4. extension of the application of biotechnology in the tanning sector;

5. recovery and optimization of the by-products of tanneries to obtain new materials for agriculture and industry;

6. transparent and scientifically sound communication on the environmental impact and on the efforts to avoid or reduce it.

Biodermol's commitment is to improve the offer of organic products as an alternative of traditional products to minimaze environmental impact and thanks to his 60 years of experience is able to offer solutions both for the first processes of preparation for tanning (soaking and liming) and for the treatment of wastewater with excellent results.
